And that is called as Resurgence...
I start off with an apology to all Royal Challengers supporters, if any of my comments have offended you. But trust me, I don't really feel the need for one, since I know I can never be the one who would stamp on a loser when he is down (I always only speak ahead), nor would I have been the one who initiates a debate (but will anytime be willing to give back what I get). This time it was no different, I was completely prompted and my emotional attachment to the game was exploited, I have only myself to blame, anyway - No complaints.
While watching the Challengers' chase yesterday, I suddenly realized that I am failing to admire the greatness of a team for the simple reason that I am against its supporters (of course, they are against me as well). From the audacity of young Pandey, to the elegance of Rahul Dravid, to the incredible determination of Anil Kumble and that incomparable team ethic, I just have not been able to enjoy anything since I was looking forward for them to lose - This certainly isn't the way to follow a game that I cherish so much, am not too proud of myself in being so.
All said and done, I (along with many others) have been proven hopelessly wrong by a rejuvenated Challengers side, - That really is a fantastic comeback from the way they were ridiculed at the end of the last season and midway through this season. Even if they don't manage to win the trophy (I'm writing this on Sunday, way before the final got underway), they can be extremely proud of what they have done and achieved, it has been a sensational performance - Kumble and company, Take a Bow.
I would be terribly dishonest if I say that their phenomenal performance so far has been due to 'LUCK' as a few of my mates would remark Dhoni's success factor as so. Sport can rarely become lucky, it is extremely hard business where success could be achieved only by hard work and the willingness to fight out. The efforts and the determination to succeed will easily overrun the aspect called as LUCK. The Bangalore team has done exactly that in the second part of the season and the results are no-surprise. After the semi-finals, someone's SMS told me, "Yupee...The best team won" and I do remember the same team being made fun of by the same person not long ago. Always, back your team to the fullest, It is never over until it is actually over.
The likes of Dravid and Kumble are too good to be hated, being the noble warriors they have been and for all their impeccable contributions, they haven't had many successes in the shorter version, leave alone the shortest. They deserve to be on the smiling side on Sunday night, that's the least I could hope and pray for. A successful ending could be the fitting tribute for these truly wonderful gentlemen and remarkable ambassadors for the game.
Congratulations to all you Royal Challengers supporters, regardless of what happens on Sunday late evening, the moment is yours', cherish joyfully!

I could not have agreed to you more.
ReplyDeleteA few of the so called 'oldies' proved cricket is still a fighters game.I am happy for them and cherish that they proved the so called all knowing critics wrong...
Rightly said, who would have imagined Anil Kumble to be the Man of the Final, especially when the team has lost?
ReplyDeleteAnd Rahul Dravid's dismissal is considered to be the turning point too. So they did prove their worth, in a big way too.
Nice one DUDE!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete:) The moment i opened the page i got a smile on my face for the mere surprise it had. I was expecting a post about our iyer's wedding as you had a real go with his wedding pictures.I was expecting a post something like "Iyer's wedding adventures".Never prepared for this one though.
ReplyDeleteI wish Royal challengers had won but fate had other plans.Kumble lead from the front and it would have been fitting had Rahul dravid played a cameo.
That was a nice post and keep coming up with more such cameos ;)
that was a good one.. you have inspired me to start my blog. i was thinking for over 6 months to blog and havent done anything towards it :).. BTW Aiyer's wedding comments were too good. I miss you guys :(
ReplyDeleteBabu, first of all congrats on starting of this g8 concept of exchanging/expressing thoughts through blogging. I don't think v lost in the final bcoz of ur anticipation, winning and loosing r the part of the game. It's important for anyone to realise their mistakes early and come back strongly, that's what being seen in Kumble, though other players didn't realized which supposed to be.Cricket is a team work and a leader's fight alone not sufficient to be remain winning team. I think lack of contribution from middle order lead us to loose. We will win next time.
